This gold-plated necklace features faceted black glass stones set along a fine chain — a simple, timeless design popular in the 1980s and early 1990s. The original tag reads “Gold Plated – Made in Korea,” a mark used during Korea’s peak production period for export jewelry. Pieces like this were designed for understated elegance — versatile enough for day or evening wear, bridging the gap between costume and semi-fine jewelry.

The delicate chain and polished settings give it that subtle vintage glow that modern pieces rarely capture. This piece aligns with 1980s–1990s Korean export “bridge jewelry” — often produced for brands like Avon, Monet, Trifari, or unbranded department-store lines.

While unmarked, the clean station layout and polished finish are consistent with the Avon “Everyday Elegance” or Trifari Classic Collection styles popular in the same era.

Learning Note: From the late 1970s through the 1990s, South Korea became one of the largest manufacturers of quality costume jewelry for Western markets. These pieces, often marked only by “Made in Korea” tags, reflected an emerging standard of craftsmanship — gold plating, precision-cut glass, and elegant minimalist designs. Today, they’re appreciated as “bridge jewelry,” sitting between mass-market costume and fine gold styles.
